Tap Dance

Carlson's follows the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD) Tap syllabus, renowned for being one of the world's leading dance examination boards. Classes are taught by fully qualified registered teachers with the ISTD.

A fun and energetic class, wearing shoes with metal taps on heels and toes in order to create melodic sounds and rhythms, tap has evolved as a dance genre over more than 100 years. With its origins from Africa and popularized throughout the world by dancers such as Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly in the last century down to Savion Glover today, tap dance has become a theatrical art form and is often seen on stage in musicals.

Exams are offered at the end of each year with the discretion of the teacher.

Classes are taught from primary beginners to advanced students, and for adults.
